Board Election Winners Announced

The election results for the Chamber Board are in, and newcomer Ron Malnati of Exchange Bank will join Board veterans Richard Marzo, Daniel Canales, and John Burns to serve the three year terms.

Marzo is the Chamber’s outgoing President in June.

Three Board members whose term is up will be leaving – Dave King, Carol Kneis, and Bill Groverman – as will appointed member Mike Healy. Next year’s Board President will appoint three people to one-year terms on the Board.

John Burns has been publisher of the Argus-Courier since November of 1999, and is a former Board President. He has owned and managed community newspapers in Petaluma, Novato, and Sebastopol, and supports strong, well-balanced economic development policies to bolster a healthy local economy. Burns formerly served on the boards of both the Novato Chamber of Commerce and the Sebastopol Chamber of Commerce, and chaired the Economic Development committees for each organization.

Daniel Canales has been an enroller with The National Association for the Self Employed and a licensed health insurance agent with Health Markets for nine years. He has lived in Petaluma for 14 years, and has been an Ambassador for the last nine years, serving as Chair and then Co-Chair for the last six years. He is a Lead­ership Graduate andhas worked as the Chamber’s unofficial bartender at several of their events.

Ron Malnati was born and raised in Petaluma. He graduated from Petaluma High School and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He graduated from SRJC, California State University, Sacramento, and received a Master’s Degree from Golden Gate University and completed Banking School from the University of Virginia. He has been in banking for 34 years and joined Exchange Bank two and a half years ago as the Business Development Officer for the South Sonoma County.

Richard Marzo, of Lace House Linen, served the Chamber as an appointed Board member before being elected to a full term three years ago. He says the past year as Board President has been enlightening and very active, and he continues to be impressed with the professionalism and enthusiasm he encounters through Chamber members. He will serve on the Chamber’s Executive Committee next year as the Immediate Past President.

Author Heckart to Speak
at Women in Business Lunch

Ease stress. Enhance Communications. Balance the demands of a busy life. These are a few of the messages noted author Andrea Frank Heckart will deliver at the Women in Business luncheon on May 8.

The luncheon speaker at Rooster Run has titled her presentation, “Entrepreneurs on Purpose.” She is a master trainer and a network marketing millionaire who has co-created many six and multiple six-figure women.

The powerful combination of strategy and inspirationleaves her audience with the knowledge, drive and motivation necessary to excel as high-achieving professionals.

She is the author of seven books, including the best-seller Cool Communication, which she co-wrote with her daughter, Journey. She has two teaching credentials from UCLA and a Master’s Degree in Psychology.

Andrea is also a column writer for numerous publications.Her books have beenendorsed by Oprah Winfrey, Deepak Chopra, Stephen Covey and Dr. John Gray, among others.

Deadline for reservations is May 5. Call 762-2785. Cost is $25 for Chamber Members, $30 for non-members, with an additional $5 charge at the door if not prepaid. Registration begins at 11:15, and program starts at 11:30.

The program is one of a series of events produced by the Chamber’s Women in Business Committee for all Chamber members.
